I have to say I like better this way to a degree. I've got a half hearted appreciation for Hewlett's style where I prefer it in stills because I think he's overly popish and turns into a mockery of himself when he's given the opportunity to fully express his visual impulses through the vivacity of animation. There's a few points where I'd prefer some fuller animation for emphasis, but other than that I think it's better the way it is.
